2025 MX-5 Miata Basics and Updates
The 2025 MX-5 Miata is a two-seat convertible with a classic soft top and an iconic, sporty style. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder front midship engine churns out 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque for rapid acceleration, controlled by a standard six-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter. Rear-wheel drive is standard on every model. The Grand Touring trim can be optioned with a six-speed sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters if you prefer to switch between automatic and manual operation.
There aren’t many updates to the 2025 lineup after a number of refreshes the previous year, but the 35th Anniversary Edition model is a new addition to the lineup. This option will have a limited production, and all will come with an Artisan Red Metallic exterior and tan Nappa leather inside.
Incredible Handling
Every MX-5 Miata features a monocoque unibody chassis with backbone frame construction and suspension subframes in the front and rear for incredible handling and ride comfort. Vented 11-inch disc brakes with single-piston calipers are standard in front, and solid versions add to the excellent stopping power in the rear. All models above the base trim with the manual transmission also include an asymmetric, torque-sensing limited-slip differential for extra traction control. The electric rack-and-pinion power steering is smooth and responsive.
Well-Appointed Interior
Inside, the standard black cloth-trimmed bucket seats include integrated headrests, padded armrests, and a seat tilt adjustment for the driver. Seat heating becomes standard in the top three trims. The three-spoke steering wheel, parking brake handle, and shift knob are all wrapped in leather. Air conditioning helps beat the heat, and there’s a mesh aero board wind blocker for top-down drives. There are a number of interior storage options, including two removable cupholders and a locking rear center console.
Black gauges with white lettering are elegant and easy to read. The 8.8-inch center display is standard in all models with Multifunction Commander control, voice command, and HD Radio. SMS audio text message delivery and reply let you text with your eyes safely on the road. Alexa Built-in adds even more convenience, and the standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities become wireless in all models above the base trim. You’ll also enjoy a one-year trial of Mazda Connected Services.
