2023 Mazda MiataRF

A Closer Look at the 2023 Mazda Miata RF

In addition to the MX-5 Miata's widely praised soft-top design, the RF (standing for "Retractable Fastback") model offers a sleek hardtop that opens and closes with the push of a button in less than 15 seconds. This gives the car extra rigidity and comfort during harsher weather or longer road trips. That's all while delivering the outstanding performance that the roadster has become famous for. Keep reading to learn more about the 2023 Mazda Miata RF! A Closer Look at the 2023 Mazda Miata RF Powertrain The Miata RF's very low curb weight of under 2,500 pounds allows it to be powered by a smaller, yet extremely capable engine, which comes as the vaunted 2.0L Skyactiv-G inline-4 engine making 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. That's enough performance to get the car hustling from 0 to 60 in under six seconds. Grand Touring models offer a sporty 6-speed automatic transmission, but many are sure to gravitate towards the 6-speed manual. Both of the Miata RF's Club and Grand Touring trims come standard with a torque-sensing limited-slip differential that quickly adapts to changing conditions to maintain excellent traction. more Chassis Every generation of the MX-5 has been the top buy for sports car enthusiasts since the vehicle was introduced more than 30 years ago. The new Miata RF is very much the same owing to its ideal 50/50 weight distribution and a sport-tuned fully independent suspension consisting of a double wishbone and Bilstein dampers up front and a multi-link setup with aluminum bearing support in the rear. The MX-5 already offers amazing braking ability, but the Club's Brembo/BBS Recaro Package makes it even better with Brembo front brakes. Steering is superb, enhancing the feeling of oneness with the car. Interior Though it's a smaller vehicle, the MX-5 RF has a cockpit that can still accommodate taller occupants with its 36.8 inches of headroom and 43.1 inches of legroom. The simple, yet elegant interior is very driver focused, with every information display and control being within easy sight and reach. Buyers can opt for the Club's lighter Recaro seats or the extra-luxurious Terracotta Nappa leather of the Grand Touring. Both choices come with three heat settings. Combining the trunk with the covered storage compartment behind the seats, the car easily makes weekend getaways for two possible. Infotainment System A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that can also be controlled with the user-friendly Commander Control knob provides Android Auto/Apple CarPlay integration, Bluetooth hands-free phone accessibility and streaming audio, and SiriusXM satellite radio support. Dual USB audio ports and an auxiliary audio jack come standard for wired connections. Outstanding sound comes from the standard 9-speaker Bose audio system with AudioPilot technology. After years of careful refinement, the MX-5 RF continues to best its rivals when it comes to delivering a thrilling driving experience at an affordable price. Does Your Mazda Have a Faulty Ignition Coil?

Ignition coils help generate the electrical voltage that lets the engine's spark plugs spark. A typical Mazda with four combustion chambers can still operate with one faulty ignition coil. But the car's performance will suffer greatly, and more significant car problems may soon develop. If one of your ignition coils fails, you're likely to notice the following six warning signs and should have it repaired or replaced at your nearest Mazda dealer as soon as you can. Does Your Mazda Have a Faulty Ignition Coil? Failing Engine Power When an ignition coil stops sending a steady supply of voltage to the spark plug, that spark plug begins to misfire. As a result, the engine loses power: when you step on the gas, it won't be as responsive as before. Rough Idling When a spark plug starts to misfire because of a bad coil, you'll feel the car struggling. Most notably, it will no longer be purring quietly when you slow down or pause in idle. Instead, it will cough and sputter and seem like it's struggling to keep running. more Stalling Engine Misfires can also cause your car to stall, especially when you slow down or rest in idle, which puts the engine under more strain. Once stalled, you might also find it difficult to start the engine again. Reduced Gas Mileage With a bad ignition coil, your car won't be burning fuel as efficiently as before. And you'll soon find you need to budget more for your gas expenditure each month. Backfiring Exhaust System Misfiring in the combustion chambers can cause an excess of unburned fuel to escape into the exhaust system. If excess fuel ignites anywhere outside of the combustion chamber, you'll hear a loud bang and see smoke coming from the tailpipe. Check Engine Light The various engine problems that a bad ignition coil causes will usually trigger the computerized sensors inside your engine. Your car will let you know that something is wrong by lighting up the check engine light on your dashboard. It will then take a technician to properly diagnose and repair the problem. Your Mazda Dealer May Clean or Replace a Faulty Coil Malfunctioning ignition coils can sometimes be cleaned instead of replaced. When checking your engine's coils, if the technician finds them to be dirtied with dust or sooty residue, they'll first clean them to see if the function can be restored. But if an ignition coil has become overloaded and burned out, broken by vibrations, or destroyed by overheating, it will usually need to be replaced. Have your malfunctioning ignition coils examined and replaced today at Tom Bush Mazda. Our full-service dealership has been providing local drivers with excellent cars and customer service since 1974.
