You enjoy driving your Mazda, but as time passes, the interior can gain an unloved feel. Papers and other debris can accumulate, and dust and dirt will slowly build up inside your car each time you open and close the doors. As your Mazda dealership, we’d like to give some car care advice on how to make your car interior look, feel, and smell brand new again.

Car Care Advice From Your Mazda Dealership: Ways To Take Care of Your Car Interior

Collect the Junk

It’s very easy to forget to dump notes, an empty styrofoam cup, and other debris. In time, these and other items tend to accumulate in a car and make it look untidy.

Grab two bags, one for trash and one for items to keep, and clear everything out of your car that doesn’t belong there. Before you know it, your interior will already look better. Dump the trash bag, return the other items to their owners, and you’re ready for the next step.

Wash The Mats

The mats are designed to protect your carpets from mud, dust, and other dirt, but they will become dirty over time. If you have carpeted mats, use a high-quality carpet cleaner and water and scrub them. Once they’re washed, hang them out to dry. If you have vinyl, rubber, or silicone mats, these can be easily cleaned with water and dishwashing soap.

Dust the Dash

Dust gradually builds up on the dash and console. The best way to get rid of it is to use a microfiber cloth. This type of cloth won’t leave any scratches and is soft enough to clean sensitive items, like the console screen. Once you’ve dusted these areas, use antiseptic wipes to remove any unseen bacteria or smudges.

Clean the Windows

It’s easy to forget that the interior windows need cleaning too. Use a microfiber cloth and glass cleaner to clean the inside of the windshield, side windows, and mirrors.

Clean the Seats

If you have cloth seats, a good quality upholstery cleaner, and a microfiber cloth will have them cleaned again in no time. When you clean cloth seats, ensure that you don’t use too much water, as this can lead to mold formation. If you have leather seating, use a high-quality leather cleaner. Regularly cleaning the level will keep it soft and supple.

Vacuum the Interior

Now the interior looks great, it’s time to remove any remaining dirt and dust with the vacuum. Portable vacuums have a wide range of attachments to allow you to reach any area, including the spaces between the seats and the cupholders.
